If you have been referred to us, or are wondering if Empilweni’s services can be of help, please drop in to our offices Monday to Thursday 8:00am to 4:30pm

Screening and Referral Service

Sometimes it can be confusing to know where you can get the care and support appropriate for you. Empilweni will screen your case, and if another organization is best suited to help you, we will refer you to the most appropriate organization after screening.

Counselling Services

If Empilweni is the most appropriate organization for your specific case, we provide clinically supervised assessment and treatment for your case. This involves individual and family counselling sessions, group parenting skills training, home visits and school visits. We have a special group programme for first time teen mothers. The counseling process normally takes about three months

Community Outreach and Capacity Building

Training around the mental health of children and teenagers is provided to the community, to NPO’s, to teachers and to other community stakeholders through workshops, radio and television, and community newspapers

Advocacy and Lobbying around Child and Teen Mental Health issues

Advocacy activities are directed towards government departments, donors and community leaders, professionals and institutions

Community Collaboration & Mentoring

Empilweni collaborates with other NPO’s, CBO’s and local forums to improve the quality of life of children and teens in Khayelitsha and Mfuleni

Local and international students are accepted for placement through formal arrangements with their teaching institutions

Volunteers with skills and values consonant with the mission of Empilweni are welcome
